5 Simple Ways To Remember The Funny Things Kids Say

As a parent we find great amusement and joy in the funny things kids say and do.

Some of the quips, insights, and confusion is down right funny, some of them reveal an innocent and wonderful take on the world. A world forgotten by many adults. In the begging you believe that you can remember these forever. After a short time the tales get harder to remember. Son all the stores fade into one another. As an aunt, uncle, cousin, brother, sister you are also privy to the miracles of the insight the young have on the world. You will reflect on all you have observed and wish that you had a video camera or a photographic memory to record the things you’ve heard and seen.

Here are a couple of our faves to remind you;

  • ” Mommy, did you know that your underwear won’t flush down the toilet?”
  • “I can have two childs because I have two testicles”
  • 3 y.o. walks in chewing a great ball of mint dental floss “this is my bubble gun”

So here are 5 killer suggestions to help you remember gems like these (makes for good fodder for 21st speeches etc).

  • Your smart phone likely has a voice memo function. Either record an audio note for your self or ask the child to repeat the statement.
  • How about a video camera. Have an older child interview the younger ones (kids open up to other kids).
  • Keep notes (and find them) on your phone and computers using Evernote. It’s my online brain and they have free and paid accounts.
  • Why not start a blog. They may want to contrubute. Private or public you choose. Many services are provided free. Posterous is updated by email and a pleasure to use. Your Posterous blog will accept a text only email, or an email with a photo, video or mp3 (voice memo) attached.
  • A notebook. Is an obvious old favorite and always works

Here’s a couple more funny ones just to keep you motivated.

  • 3 year old says “momma, my peepee hurts”, I ask him why it hurts and he responds “someone took it and poked a hole in it”.
  • I thought you were cool until i looked in the mirror and saw i was cooler
  • “I like the lines on your face.”

Our family have started doing this ourselves. An absolute kid pleaser is to tell them stories about when they were younger.. Story by story we are creating a treasure trove. Dozen of beautiful memories our entire family loves to share.

I sincerely hope that you find enough inspiration here to start your own little archive. And I hope lie us you find great joy in remembering the funny things kids say.
