Any new mother when they find out they are going to have a baby will immediately begin forming a list in her head with the products she will need to buy for the new baby. All babies need an area to stay, new clothes and plenty of new toys to play with for stimulation. It takes around nine months to make a baby but it will take that much time and longer to accumulate all of the necessary items needed.

The first item that needs to be decided on is the car seat. A car seat is necessary to be able to leave the hospital. The staff will not allow a newborn to leave the hospital unless they know the car seat is safe and they know that it is placed properly. One of the best brands of car seats is the Britax car seat. These seats have the highest allowances for both height and weight. This allows the child to be in a 5-point harness for that much longer. A 5-point harness keeps them strapped in and safe.

A bath tub is another item that will be needed. These are designed to keep the head of the baby above water. A baby’s neck is not strong for the first few months and having these bath tubs will help with this. As the child grows, they can be moved into a traditional tub. There are many baby bath toys that can be used for bath time.

Feeding will need to be considered. Will the baby be breast fed or will it be bottle fed or will it be a combination of both. With breast feeding, it will need to be decided if breast feeding exclusively will be done or if there will be pumping. A good brand for pumping is an Isis breast pump. Pumping allows milk to be stored for use at a later time also for people other than the mother to feed the child.

For bottle feeding, there are numerous different bottles that are available. There are bottles made from glass and some from plastic. There are bottles that have angles in the neck. This is supposed to help with air bubbles. There are bottles that have drop in liners. Each baby will have their preference in what type of bottle they will take. The hard part is figuring that out.

A crib is another item that will be vital. Every baby needs a place to sleep. There are different versions of cribs. Some are traditional and some are convertible. The convertible ones can last the entire life of the child. These go from a crib to a toddler bed and then can be converted to a double bed.

The arrival of a new baby is an exciting time and will take preparation. If done properly, the acquisition of all necessary items can be fun and not seem like a chore.
